Ohio SPCA Fights Abuse in Fayette County Dog Pound
They have 96 hours to correct serious violations of the ORC. Witness statements and pictures received Sept 24 depict horrendous conditions - drop-off kennels that have not been cleaned for 2 weeks, runs full of feces and worms, vomit, and urine, and sick dogs left to suffer. See Pictures at bottom..condition of the cages
This is not the first time sick dogs were adopted or given away. And it is not the first time that dogs were left to suffer and die a slow death.
Records received prove that the dog wardens, past and present, have killed STRAY dogs before the 72 hour holding period was up. Some died the day they came in. This is a violation of the ORC, and therefore it is criminal. Dogs are being killed in a homemade gas closet.
Bagged like garbage and thrown away like garbage...this is the fate of the dogs that end up here.
We must receive satisfactory evidence of the destruction of the “gas box,” correction of the inhumane conditions at the Pound, and full compliance with the ORC within the next ninety-six (96) hours, or we will file a Mandamus Complaint against Fayette County.
The Assist Dog Warden has been placed on Administrative Leave and we are told that she will not be back. Fayette County needs to hire a qualified dog warden who cares.

these things need to be corrected...We will not stand for this .....Animals deserve better !

Pictures of horrible filthy conditions, uncleaned cages, filthy water and sick and dying dogs. The pictures were taken on Sept. 18 and 19, 2010.
A sheriff deputy was called to the pound when these pictures were taken and he observed the conditions.

Please tell me someone did something to help that dying dog. Please tell me law enforcement didn't just leave that poor baby there to die all alone like that.

ReplyDeleteit saddens my heart to see human beings doing this to animals, would they does this to a human child? i believe wot comes round goes round, so there souls are dammed anyway now unless they turn there lives around with pure heart an remorse to the animals

Judging by the all the abuse the animals are taking by various shelters and workers stricter employment searches should be done to help prevent this from abuses to take place in the future, criminal records checked and to be honest a mental exam,what these people are doing to the animals is sick
ReplyDeleteHooray for this morning's update! Praise God the Warden in gone. Hopefully this will be a new beginning for this former shelter. I say former, because that is certainly not what it is at this time! But with a lot of love, determination and teamwork, I pray that all of this nightmare of terror will be ended immediately for our beloved, innocent, furry ones who have had the misfortune to end up here.
ReplyDeleteI thought all animal shelters were exactly that! A place where an animal can have a temporary roof over its head, food, clean water etc. I understand all the shelters, city run and private are full! I also understand that many city and probably private too are trying to keep their payroll down. But.....THERE IS NOT 1 REASON OR SHOULD I SAY EXCUSE FOR THIS! Most of the people that do the actual cleaning of the runs, watering, feeding etc are VOLUNTEERS! Volunteers do not get paid 1 penny! They are people who are retired, all of them have to be animal lovers or they would find some other way to pass the time. When I see these pictures, I know beyond any shadow of a doubt that not only are the daily survival tasks being done here but none of these animals are even being walked or taken outside for 5 minutes. If I had an animal and was given only 2 choices.....take it to this Hell Hole or have it put to sleep by a vet. Thats a NO BRAINER! Is this the same place I saw a while back that the News claimed would not let volunteers in? I want to know why not? Why would anyone tell willing people who will come daily to HELP FOR FREE? Situations like this only escalate if nothing is done. It doesnt get better it gets worse and I have to say this is 1 of the most HORRIFIC displays of ANIMAL ABUSE, ANIMAL CRUELTY, and DISREGARD FOR ANY LIVING CREATURE WHO IS THERE FOR HELP! WHOEVER WAS GETTING PAID BY THE CITY TO RUN THIS HOUSE OR HORRORS SHOULD ALSO BE PROSECUTED BY THE CITY FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY! Why in God`s name does it take people who care to have to look at this, sit and sob over it, get so angry we can hardly control ourselves because some so-called human being obviously WAS NOT DOING THEIR JOB AND AS ALWAYS WHO SUFFERED FOR THEIR COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR THESE INNOCENT ANIMALS WHO JUST WANT LOVE AND A HOME..... THE ANIMALS.The only comfort I seem to ever find is that no matter what punishment someone gets for doing this, it will never be enough until.....one day that person faces the very Power that created the animals they view as garbage.

I could go on and on about how awful this is news coverage and action need to be done and someone please take care of these innocent animals.

ReplyDeleteSo Sad! This is totally inhumane! Totally uncalled for! How can they call themselves an animal shelter!!!??? Please make sure these conditions change even if it means getting rid of current employee's and hiring new.
